Norman, Oklahoma, 2003
Polarimetric radar hydrometeor identification and NOx production by lightning

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology T-28 armored research airplane and its crew of pilots and scientists participated in two Norman-area field programs from May 13 to June 11, 2003.  We were based at the Westheimer Field airport. Our flight activities were coordinated with the National Severe Storms Laboratory and the University of Oklahoma Joint Polarization Experiment (JPOLE) polarimetric radar studies
(http://cimms.ou.edu/~schuur/jpole/) and the Thunderstorm Electrification and Lightning Experiment (TELEX) (http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/projects/telex/index.html ).
